Rebuilding ZU-AEN.

My RANS S12, ZU-AEN, has just undergone a complete overhaul and rebuild, here is a list of the work done including the upgraded instrumentation. The result of all this work is a "BETTER THAN NEW" plane ! But, as all airplane owners would know, this is a never-ending story !!

LANDING GEAR

Replaced the following:

Nose gear fork.
Nose gear fork strut.
Nose gear axle.
Nose gear axle bushing.
Nose wheel pant.
Landing gear strut (right).
Landing gear axle (two).
Rubber trim.
 
X-ray left Landing gear strut.
X-ray right landing gear strut.
Fit new tubes.


CABIN/FUSELAGE

Replaced the following:

Forward strut.
2 X forward cabaine struts.
2 x middle cabaine struts.
2” aft strut.
Fuel lines.
Windshield top former.
Windshield side tube (TWO).
Lexan windscreen.
Lexan door panel (right).
Lexan door panel (left).
Lexan rear window (left).
Lexan rear window (right).
Upper rear panel (left).
Upper rear panel (right).
New and upgraded tail boom.

WING.
 
Replaced the following:

Tip bow.
Tip wrap.
 
OTHER

Implemented FACTORY AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE 131.

Completely recover and respray entire airframe (UV protected).

ENGINE (Rotax 618)

300 HOUR SERVICE
Check Crank shaft - inside spec.
Remove head and barrels and inspect.
Clean carbon.
Ring gap .45mm
New top end gaskets.
New exhaust springs.
New gudgeon pins and needle brgs.
Check air gap .45mm
New plugs Gap 0.45mm
4 New Exhaust mtgs.
2 New fuel pump mtgs.
2 New radiator mtgs.
New radiator hoses.
3 Air filter mtgs.
New Air filter box couplings.
New Carb mounting couplings.
Wash filter and treat (oil).
New float needles.
Repair wiring to mag.

OVERHAUL GEAR BOX

Gear 6305 C3
SM 25387 SEAL
SM 35477 SEAL
SM 32477 SEAL
2 shims

Skydat GX1. "Glass  cockpit" with analogue backup of following instruments:
Fuel gauge.
Air Speed Indicator.
Altimeter.
CHT dual gauge.
Slip indicator.
Garmin GPS III Pilot, Garmin GPS 296 to be installed soon.
Yeasu FT-857 HF/VHF/UHF tranceiver
 

Upgrades to be done:

New compass.
Landing and navigation lights.
Mode C Transponder.
HF & UHF antennas.
